This report assess issues related to the implementation of a Customs regime to support
the introduction of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) on January 1, 2001. The
report analyzes the draft ASEZ law and customs regulations, addresses infrastructure and
equipment requirements, and proposes future technical assistance. Particular attention is
given to policy and operational issues which will need to be addressed by the Customs
Working Group responsible for implementing the ASEZ customs regime in Aqaba
