Tourism is one of the most important economic drivers in Jordan. Second only to worker
remittances, the industry is the most important generator of foreign exchange. In
recognition of the current and future importance of this industry, Jordan has embarked on
developing a national tourism industry development strategy led by the Jordan Tourism
Board, headed by His Excellency Taleb Rifa’i, Minister of Tourism & Antiquities, and
key leaders from the private sector. This strategy will set new targets delineated in
economic terms and is designed to achieve sustainable growth in this sector and yield
measurable and diffuse economic and social benefits
