Exploring the less Privileged Population’s Knowledge and Awareness about Cancer in Jordan -2014  

The purpose of this study, conducted by the University of Jordan, was to explore the knowledge and awareness of cancer among the less privileged population’ in Jordan. Care for cancer patients in Jordan faces many challenges similar to those faced by other countries including the increasing costs and resources required to manage the disease. However, there is evidence that less privileged population in terms of socio economic status and geographical locations are at risk of not being able to reach the necessary and appropriate care. This study targeted participants from 11 of the governorates of Jordan (excluding Amman) and highlights the gap in awareness about cancer signs and symptoms among the less privileged people in Jordan. the report presents the findings, conclusions, and recommendations for reducing the knowledge and awareness gaps in the future. The study was published in 2014.
