Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Public Administration - 2012  

This case study was conducted as part of the first phase of a cross-practice and cross-thematic global UNDP initiative on Gender Equality in Public Administration (GEPA), launched in 2011. The report, published by UNDP in 2012, provides an overview of the socio-economic and political context as well as gender equality in the public administration in Jordan as one of the thirteen global case studies. The report demonstrates the profile of women’s participation in decision-making and in public administration while it reviews key legislation that impacts gender equality in the sector. Furthermore, the report identifies key achievements and specific initiatives targeting gender equality as well as the gaps and challenges facing the Kingdom; exploring the barriers hindering equal participation in the public administration with recommendations as to how they may be overcome.
