The USAID Energy Sector Support Activity (ESSA) is providing support to the Government of Jordan (GoJ) to improve the energy sector’s sustainability and self-reliance through its economic reform efforts. ESSA will contribute to the USAID Economic Reform Activity’s (ERA) overarching results framework by providing technical assistance to the primary government agencies in the energy sector, including National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), and the Energy and Mineral Regulatory Commission (EMRC). USAID designed the Activity to include a $1M grant fund to be used for leveraging the Activity’s objectives. This concept note provides the areas of focus and the rationale for the proposed grant program design.
