The main objective of the short course on “Modern irrigation distribution systems: design, operation, maintenance and performance evaluation” is to raise awareness for international best practice amongst staff focusing on aspects around irrigation optimization and modern methodologies.

• The course introduced the participants to new technologies and trends in Italy for modern irrigation systems to be applied in Jordan.
• The course includes visiting to interesting sites where new technologies are used commercially.
• Discussion with participants about the history of economic development of the irrigation sector in Italy at the sites.
• Performance evaluation of pressurized irrigation systems.
