Influenza A (H5N1) (Avian flu)
Animal diseases
Jordan has many strengths that adds to it’s over all preparedness to respond to either avian influenza
or pandemic influenza. It has a well developed healthcare system with well strained staff. Access to
healthcare is good and distances are short, allowing for rapid deployment of PPE, staff etc or the rapid
transport of lab specimens to the national reference lab. Healthcare staff have been trained on the
management and control of avian influenza and there is a high level of awareness in the general
population and an overall willingness to comply with control measures
