The Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS) under the USAID Integrated Health Systems IDIQ helps low- and middle-income countries transition to sustainable, self-financed health systems as a means to support universal health coverage. As a result of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak which has created a global health emergency; and due to the fact that some critical steps were taken immediately to limit the spread of this disease, LHSS, in partnership with King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), conducted a rapid assessment of Jordan’s national level diagnostic capacity to detect Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). in February 2021. The assessment revealed a need to determine and validate Jordan’s national maximum COVID-19 testing capacity, including the Laboratory testing capacity challenges. Therefore, LHSS, with the MOH, conducted a study to assess the overall COVID-19 testing capacity in Jordan, by the end of March 2021. The study aimed to identify potential defects that comprise the efficiency and effectiveness of COVID-19 testing capacity in the country.
