Population Growth and its Impact on Land Use
Jordan resources are limited, especially energy, water resources and arable land. The population has
increased in the last sixty years to more than twelve-fold, from 0.59 million in 1952 to about 6.4 million
in 2012, and this has increased the pressure on services, natural resources and on land use due to the
increased need for food and housing.
