Preliminary results of the farms baseline survey in Azraq and Mafarq

WIT Agricultural Project Component aimed at increasing water conservation in Northern Jordan (Azraq and Mafraq), by enhancing the adoption of water innovation technologies. The original approach focusing on stimulating the market of irrigation hardware and agricultural inputs to allow WIT to achieve its target of sustainable adoption of water innovation technologies. The market development requires a study of the baseline of the demand (farmers) and offer (suppliers) sides. A first stage survey aimed at visiting 100 farms at least (50 in Azraq and 50 in Mafraq). A survey form enclosing 209 questions was produced in concertation with WIT key staff and IWMI scientists. Obtained results showed that the detailed assessment of the demand side market is coherent with the initial market assessment carried out on 20 farms by Springfield Center consultants in September 2017.
