One of the major factors negatively affecting the unemployment rate and the ability of the
private sector firms to hire Jordanians is the mismatch between the Jordanian academic
institutions outputs and the labor demand by the private sector. One way of bridging the gap
and creating the link between academic institutions and the private sector is through
internship programs that expose the students to the world of work at an early stage, so that
they will be ready to join the workforce upon their graduation. It is expected that LoYAC’s
internship program will enhance the employability skills of fresh graduates which will lead to
better opportunities for employment.
