Jordan's banking sector dominates the country's financial system and contributes significantly
to the Jordan economy but at 35%, the government tax rate on banking is 15% higher than it
is on any other sector of the economy. Member banks believe a negative public image is part
of the issue - a belief that banks are transactional, short-term and motivated primarily by
money.
