The objective of this assessment was three-fold: The first objective was to better understand the progress the digital financial services (DFS) market in Jordan has made to date, including available products, characteristics, agent network size, coverage and competitive landscape. The second objective was to assess the potential and capacity of cooperatives to act as MM agents to increase uptake of DFS by the lower income segment of the population for financial inclusion, particularly through a community-based structure that already promotes female membership and participation. Subsequently, the third objective was to develop a basic financial model to provide an understanding of potential revenue streams and a guidance note for the cooperatives to act as MM agent. The financial model and guidance note are being transmitted to the cooperatives which participated in intensive assessment and to the USAID WIT project.
