Revitalizing Rose Red- Participatory Rapid Appraisal Result and Groundwork for Petra Work plan

Siyaha conducted a three day Participatory Rapid Appraisal, in order to ascertain the status of tourism development in the Petra Region. 27 focus groups, key informant interviews, and surveys were conducted. Key stakeholders studied were: governmental organizations, the community, community based organizations (CBOs), small medium enterprises (SMEs), hotels, restaurants, schools and the vocational training center, emergency and medical centers, tourists, and Tour guides. Siyaha hopes that this groundwork will lay the foundation to help it achieve its goal of finding the balance between the interests of tourism development, conservation, the local community, and the visitor, to make a greater Petra a reality for people today, and future generations.
