This assessment provides the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) with an estimate of the
amounts of expected water savings and the cost of procuring and installing WSD’s in 25% and 85%
of large water consumers, public and private. It is one more tool that the MWI can use to expand
its ability to manage water demand in a country of great water scarcity. The assessment is the result
of several months of extensive work by multi-disciplinary expert teams and stakeholders to
determine who are the largest consumers of water in the Kingdom and how their consumption can
be lowered to create a net water saving.
