ITU online Campaign – Child Helpline International Campaign “Partnering to Protect Children and Youth”

The Jordan child helpline 110 is part of the child Helpline International and has started its
operations in 2007, under the curatorship of the Jordan River Foundation’s program for protecting
children, operating 24-hour basis, 7 days a week and 356 days a year. The Jordan River
Foundation strategic orientation values are to assure social justice, individual-centered service,
acceptance, family-child centered perspective and confidentiality in reporting families, children and
youth issues. The 110 child helpline for” families and children” is a Free Help line designed for
the development and protection of the welfare of children in Jordan, maintaining the principles of
confidentiality and caller privacy, unconditional acceptance and effective listening. The Jordan
River Foundations has shaped this initiative after identifying the growing need for advisory services
in matters related to the physical, psychological, social and educational child growth. Furthermore,
although there are a number of institutions that offer these services across Jordan, but the
foundation has noted that the quality and nature of such services such services are not clear to
public. Hence the line 110 for families and children facilitated these services, so as to offer the
caller the possibility of outreach to those various services only by one call.
