Women and Work In Jordan 2009

The aim of this Women and Work in Jordan report is to present a general picture of the country under investigation, including labour market and skills formation issues, the challenges of women’s empowerment and recent developments in the ICT and tourism sectors. The report is based on desk research and interviews with ministry officials and experts from other organisations and NGOs and will serve as a basis for further empirical research and eventually the formulation of policy recommendations to both national decision-makers and international donors. The empirical research, conducted in 2009 in Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia, consisted of employers’ survey and focus group discussions with young women in transition from school to work. The report was drafted by European Training Foundation (ETF) in 2009.
