In June 2010, the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program completed a plan for the
Development Zones Commission that identified a Local Economic Development Strategy for
the Sweimeh Community. Using the primary objective of the Development Zones
Commission in the promotion of Local Economic Development to benefit the local
community, the plan identified three pillars: Employability, Income Generation and Local
Governance. As a result of these efforts, this fundraising toolkit has been created to develop
a process for the Development Zones Commission to identify and attract funding to
implement activities that achieve the objectives of these three pillars
