Traditional sources of financing such as banks, leasing companies and existing venture
capital funds are reluctant to finance new and expanding SMEs or related EWE projects.
The global “credit crisis” has only added to the degree of difficulty in obtaining such
financing. Clearly, more creative financing is needed that will target and provide for the
financing needs of SMEs and EWE projects. This paper (the Paper) will introduce a special
purpose risk capital fund (the Fund) as an alternative to traditional financing sources.
